Dr. Alejandra Barahona, CIP Executive Director
Alejandra received her Ph.D. on Avant Garde Aesthetics from the University of California Los Angeles, where she majored in Golden Age Literature and Literary Theory. She also holds a Masters in Contemporary Latin American Literature from UCLA, an M.B.A. degree from INCAE Business School and a B.A. in Modern Languages from Colorado State University.
She is a member of the Board of Directors for the College Consortium for International Studies, based in Washington, D.C., and created the curriculum structure for the Center for International Programs (CIP) at Veritas University, where she is also International Agreements Director.
Alejandra is a collaborator for the Lonely Planet Guide’s Latin American Phrases pocketbook series, based in Australia. She has also worked as a simultaneous interpreter and translator for the Social Security Administration Office in Colorado. She has written several research articles in Philosophy and Literature, including: A World without Heroes, Fantastic Literature and Carmen A Naranjo’s Short Story –‘Camino al Mediodía’, and The Psychological Revolution of Saint Exupery’s ‘The Little Prince’. She worked as a professor of Philosophy for the Cultural Association for over five years, and in her free time is a rock and jazz performer and lyrical singer.
Adrianne Pacheco, Marketing & Communications Manager
Adrianne holds a B.A. in International Relations from Costa Rica’s Universidad Latina, and an M.A. in Communications and Marketing from the same university. She is also working on an M.A. in Human Rights and Education for Peace at the National University’s Institute for Latin American Studies. Adrianne volunteered for two years with Habitat for Humanity’s Latin America office in the fields of social awareness, communications and marketing, and has spent time with other international NGOs focusing on environmental issues, awareness-raising, communications, and biodiversity instruments at the Central American level. She is now the Marketing & Communications manager at the Center for International Programs, Veritas.
Pamela Badilla, Homestay Coordinator, Operations Assistant & Student Affairs
Pamela received a Degree in Psychology from Universidad Independiente in Costa Rica and is currently doing a Master’s degree in Family Psychotherapy at the Universidad Católica of Costa Rica. She previously worked in the Costa Rican Ministry of Education’s Human Resources Department, and is now the on-site Psychologist and Homestay Coordinator at the Center for International Programs.
Diana Montes, Administritative Financial Assistant
Diana Montes is currently carrying out post-graduate studies in Business Administration at Costa Rica’s National University. She did an internship with the Costa Rican Electricity Institute, and speaks English and Portuguese in addition to Spanish, her mother tongue. She has a specialization in Forensic Auditing from the Euro-American Institute of Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences, and also took a professional development course at the Centro Universitario Miravalles. She is now the Administrative Financial Assistant at the Center for International Programs.
Estefanía Vargas, Cultural Integration Coordinator
Estefanía has a background in Arts and Psychology. She began her studies in Fine Arts at the University of Costa Rica, and later majored in Psychology, receiving her Master’s degree in Family Psychotherapy from the Universidad Católica de Costa Rica. Her love for arts lead her to specialize in Art Therapy, allowing her to mix the best of both worlds. She has worked as an English teacher, as integrator and translator for groups of international students, and as an art therapist. She is now the Cultural Integration Coordinator and also assists as an International Student Advisor.
Federico Yih, Marketing and Communications Assistant
Federico Yih studied Communications in Guadalajara, México, and later majored in Advertising and Marketing. He now holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and a Certificate in Marketing from Universidad Latina. Previously a Marketing Coordinator with Tech Data, Federico has experience in audiovisual production, and has owned his own business. He is now the Marketing and Communications Assistant at the Veritas Center for International Programs.
